Following a comprehensive recruitment process the Board of Ireland Active is pleased to announce the appointment of Karl Dunne as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Chair of Ireland Active Joe Cosgrove welcomed the new appointment: “The board is delighted to welcome Karl as our new CEO. This appointment has been made at a key time for our industry as we navigate through difficult times and prepare our next Strategic Plan. We look forward to working with Karl as he leads the team and continues to strengthen and develop our organisation as the voice for the leisure, health and fitness industry. We are extremely pleased to have someone of Karl’s background and experience joining our team”.
Commenting on his appointment, Karl said:
“I feel very privileged to take up the role as CEO of Ireland Active and look forward to engaging with all our members and stakeholders in this next stage of the organisation’s journey. Having worked most of my career in the leisure health and fitness industry I am incredibly passionate and committed to ensure our members have the best support and representation necessary as we emerge from the pandemic and start rebuilding once again”.
Karl has worked in the area of Sports administration, leisure management and consultancy for over two decades. During this time, he has held numerous senior roles within the industry most recently in a consultancy capacity, were Karl played an instrumental role in the development and roll out of the leisure health and fitness Skillnet to Ireland Active members. Karl also brings with him an in-depth working knowledge of the industry having also presided over numerous health and leisure facilities in a management capacity.
