The annual Ireland Active Conference & NQS Awards ceremony took place on Friday 17th of November at the Lyrath Estate, Co. Kilkenny. The conference is a focal point for networking, learning and debate amongst the leisure, health and fitness community in Ireland. The conference brought together trade suppliers, expert speakers, and a host of industry stakeholders, fostering discussions on the latest trends, issues and innovations in the leisure, health and fitness sector.
Delegates not only had the opportunity to engage with thought leaders in the industry through the insightful talks on the day, but also to interact with our diverse range of exhibitors. Everything from E-Learning, state-of-the-art fitness equipment and the latest software systems were on display across the venue.

The conference featured a line-up of distinguished guest speakers who delivered thought-provoking talks on a variety of topics related to the leisure, health & fitness industry. Our keynote speaker Gary Keegan provided a cutting-edge presentation delving into the world of high-performance sport and the importance of one’s mentality and attitude. Other fascinating topics discussed by our guest speakers included leadership, workplace productivity, sports nutrition, member retention and the history of the fitness industry in Ireland. All of these talks offered delegates a deeper understanding of the factors that influence and can help to improve their business operations.
After the conference, the NQS Awards took centre stage. The NQS Awards Ceremony celebrated the outstanding achievements from our member facilities in promoting and maintaining the highest standards in the industry, recognizing the dedication and excellence of individuals and organizations committed to advancing the professionalism of the sector. In total, 93 facilities were presented with an award in the categories of Achieved, Exceeded & Outstanding. A summary of award winners can be found here.
Five facilities also received an ‘Overall Winner’ award in different categories of leisure, fitness, hotel leisure. These facilities were recognised for their remarkable high standards in safety, hygiene, customer engagement and human resources. We also had special wards handed out to our ‘Supplier of the Year’ and our Staff Member of the Year. A full list of overall winners can be found here.
