Ireland Active’s Leisure, Health & Fitness Skillnet were delighted to accept a certificate recognising the opportunities provided to Sport Ireland elite athletes during 2022 through funding from the Leisure, Health & Fitness Skillnet. The presentation was made by Sport Ireland CEO Dr Una May and Sport Ireland Institute Director Liam Harbison at the Sport Ireland Athlete Friendly Employer Network Breakfast held at the Sport Ireland Institute.

Sixteen elite athletes availed of funding towards their education throughout the year on courses which ranged from gym instruction and personal training to masters level courses in nutrition. This allowed athletes to develop their education alongside their ongoing training and competition commitments, assisting them in their future careers. The program has received funding again from Skillnet Ireland  for 2023 and will support even more high-performance athletes to develop their education along with work placement in our member facilities.
