IRELAND ACTIVE CHILDREN FIRST SAFEGUARDING COURSE – FOUNDATION COURSE
Ireland Active is offering Children First Safeguarding Course – The introductory course for the leisure and fitness industry. This course is approved by Tusla, Sport Ireland and Swim Ireland.
The course is suitable for all Managers, Designated Liaison Persons and Facility Staff.
This is a 3 hour course, and is delivered online by a trained Ireland Active Child Welfare Tutor.
COURSE AIM
This course educates participants on the implementation of best practice in protecting the welfare of all children.
CONTENTS
The course is a mix of theory and group work.
On completion of the course, the following areas will be discussed.
(a) Have a basic knowledge of Children First (2011) and relevant legislation.
(b) Implement best practice in protecting the welfare of participants in your facility.
(c) Know how to recognise child protection and welfare concerns.
(d) List categories of abuse and some indicators associated with abuse.
(e) Know how to respond appropriately to child protection and welfare concerns.
(d) Understand the importance of agencies having effective child protection policies, procedures and practices.
TARGET GROUP
This is a mandatory course for (a) any person responsible for managing staff, and (b) staff working or volunteering with children in any capacity.
IRELAND ACTIVE CHILDREN FIRST SAFEGUARDING COURSE – DLP COURSE
Ireland Active is offering Children First Safeguarding Course – DLP Training for the leisure and fitness industry. This course is approved by Tusla. The course is suitable for all Managers and Designated Liaison Persons.
This is a 3 hour course, and is delivered online by a trained Ireland Active Child Welfare Tutor.

This course educates participants on the implementation of best practice in their role as Designated Liaison Person.
CONTENTS
The course is a mix of theory and group work.
On completion of the course, the following areas will be discussed.
(a) Be aware of the role and responsibilities of the Designated Liaison Person in relation to protecting and safeguarding children.
(b) Be aware of their organisation’s responsibilities in relation to keeping children safe.
(c) Gain appropriate knowledge of the child protection system and its processes.
(d) Knowledge of organisations policies and procedures in line with Children First.
TARGET GROUP
This is a mandatory course for any person responsible for managing staff and who has been appointed as the Designated Liaison Person in their organisation.
Course Cost:
€20 per person per course, for members of Ireland Active. For non-member cost is €30 per person.
